How Aunt Laura met Benny

I found the video that I took back in July of 2002 of Aunt Laura. There's a lot more, but here's a short clip (about two minutes) where she explains how she met her future husband. It's really sweet. I'm so glad we had that visit with her. I've got a bunch more (including the part where she shows us more pictures). If you're interested, I'll put more up. (I'm using links instead of putting the video right on the page.)

Click on the image for the QuickTime version. It should be pretty good quality, but you'll need QuickTime 7 (it's for both Mac and Windows and available for free at Apple's site).

Here is an AVI file (that was the one that Bob was finally able to see). It takes up 25Mb, five times as much space as the QuickTime file (and will take five times longer to download) but the quality is a little less.

I'll keep trying to upload alternate versions but it would be awesome if you'd all download the latest version of QuickTime :)

What would really help (especially for this book I"m trying to write) is if you tell me whether or not you can view the video (and which one you can see) and what operating system and browser (including the versions) that you're using.

Enjoy!

Pictures from Estepa

(Click the image for the QuickTime 7 version. Here is a QuickTime 6 version and an AVI file too.)

Well, I was looking for the video I took of Aunt Laura Vigallon but I think I took it the bank (!) but I happened upon another video in the meantime... a video of snapshots collected by our Linares cousin (Maria Paez Linares) in Estepa (Spain).

So, the first photo in the video I'm pretty sure is Remedios (Linares) Castro in front of the picket fence. The second photo is Remedios again but much younger (probably with Frank?). (Remedios is Maria's great-aunt (her grandfather Antonio's sister).)

The third shot is of two Guardia Civil guys and their wives and kids. One of those women is a different Remedios, Maria's Aunt. (This Remedios is our Remedios' niece.) I think she's still alive and lives in Alicante. The next couple of photos are also of the other Remedios and her family. And then the first big shot is also that same Remedios.

Then we see a shot of three sisters. These three are all nieces of our Remedios... children of her brother Antonio. I believe they are Asunción, Dolores, and Encarnación. And then the other photo and the little kids are Asunción and her family. The people with the horse are Encarnación and her husband who was a local policeman.

Then there's Antonio and Asunción. Antonio was our Remedios' brother. This Asunción was his wife (and the two are our cousin Maria's grandparents).

Then there's a photo Maria doesn't recognize, followed by a big family photo that looks just like one that cousin Marge Kuzmicky just sent me (and which I'll get up tomorrow). It is Dolores, (our Remedios' sister) that went to Brazil (and who is Fa's grandmother or perhaps greatgrandmother).

Then we see our Remedios (young) at the end.

And then Maria's mother and perhaps another Aunt. And then it's done.

(That's Maria and I talking in the background.)

The Vigallon's

I received some wonderful pictures today from Cousin Margaret and Jim. I wanted to share them. I believe the one of the whole family to the left was taken in 1963 the same year Mama Concha passed away.
